quick catch up! (except it probably won't be quick)

I'm finally going to write about all those things I promised I would write about soon.  And then about London...(I might not get to London till tomorrow, there's a lot to say!)

First: Sevilla
Sevilla was our last group excursion which is kinda a bummer (well that groups is gone now, which is even more of a bummer) because on our excursions is when everyone is together and everyone goes out together and its a fun time.  As far as touring Sevilla, it got a little boring.  After several trips with tour guides, you start to feel like you're seeing/hearing the same things over and over.  And sometimes our tour guides don't really give you a chance to look at things because they want you to listen to them, and I'm more of a looker than a listener.  However, it was was still a beautiful city.  I believe I put pictures up in my last blog of the view of Sevilla.  In the cathedral there, there is a giant tower (35 floors) that you can climb.  It was a really pretty view but a long walk up!! Actually the walk down was worse because its just a ramp and not stairs and downhill ramps kill me knee!  I also think I put up birdie pictures.  In one of the parks there's just a bunch of doves that they keep there that congregate in this little area (probably because there is people selling bird food there)  and you just walk into the birds and they start flying up and landing on you (with or without food)...of course if you have food they really attack.  It was a lot of fun and just crazy to have 14 birds on you at once!!  One of the plaza/garden things we went to (I'm horrible at remembering names and it was a long time ago..), actually I think it was Plaza de Espana, was used to film part of one of the new star wars movies so that was pretty cool.  After all of our touring got done, our little group got together and hung out in the hotel room for awhile than went and had dinner and went out to a few bars.  It was a really fun night!  Thinking about it makes me miss my people even more now!!

Mountain Climbing:
A few weeks ago we went mountain climbing.  How great is it that I live in a place where I can climb a mountain and go the beach in the same day!  Amber, me, Lauren, Ryann, and Tony were the brave mountaineers.  It took forever to actually get to the mountain "climbing" part, because you climb half the mountain walking through this really really rich neighborhood.  Just that part was killer.  We choose a really bad time of day though, right after school at 2 in the afternoon when its the hottest.  I was drenched in sweat before we even made it to the mountain.  But we did it!  We made it to the first peak that overlooks Malaga and rested there for awhile just enjoying the view.  The other girls decided to head back so they could get ready for our going away dinner and me and Tony stayed to climb up the rest of the way.  That was my favorite part because before we had just been on a path and after the first peak you actually have to do some climbing.  It was hard work but really rewarding once you get to the top and can see everrrrrything and just relax on the rock for awhile.  Our climb down was rather adventurous.  First we kept trying to find our original path and not knowing exactly which way to take, but got down to the main path without too much trouble.  But then there was the horses.... we had actually been warned by the other group that there might be wild dogs near the top so had already been carrying rocks with us (good thing Tony is a bad ass marine)...but we weren't expecting wild horses (as explained to me later by our director they are owned but allowed to roam freely through the mountain...i think I'm repeating myself).  We weren't really sure what to do or if it was safe to walk through them.  It was pretty much all females with babies so it didn't seem wise to just walk through them, so we decided to climb up a little ledge and just walk around them that way.  Tony was helping pull me up but I had pushed off the same time that he was pulling and somehow this caused his knee to collide with me face.  He felt really bad and I gave him a bunch of crap for it because he would always make fun of me for getting hurt everywhere we went and I hadn't gotten hurt (well scraped up from scratchy mountain plants) yet on our trip, so he had to do it for me.  Anyways, once we finally got down the mountain and through the neighborhood safely it was time to get home and get ready for the...

Going Away Dinner:
Since all of our friends decided they were too cool to stay for two months, ISA has a going away dinner for everyone that's leaving (40 out 50 of our group).  We went and ate at a really nice restaraunt and had like a four course meal.  The first appetizer was similar to a chile relleno and it was very yummy...it was even almost spicy (spicy food is non existent in Spain).  The second appetizer was croquetas, which I liked a lot.  Until Heidi and Iker told was what was in them....bull tail.  (Actually I still liked them after that, I just would have preferred not knowing I was eating bull tail)... I had heard in my classes that bull tail is popular and kind of a delicacy here, I just didn't realize I would be eating it!  But I went with my normal motto in Spain, which is just  eat whatever is in front of you because its usually good, no matter which part of the animal it came from.  After the dinner a group of us went out and had a few drinks.  It was a fun night but it was sad knowing most everyone would be leaving soon!

Okay taking a break for now...next blog:  Mom and Lindsay's trip here, Boat ride with the new kids, final goodbyes to the old group, Finals/ New classes, trip to London.  (I might still be catching up on blogs by the time I get back to the states!!)
